A clearer search when an ACE practicum mentor is hard to find

The first line of outreach should name BSN-to-MSN or RN-to-MSN, Nurse Administrator or Nurse Educator, and the active course. Both current ACE MSN pathway pages publish a separate 50-hour NUR5043 practice experience plus a 150-hour selected capstone in NUR5094 or NUR5194. Those components sum to 200 hours. Only RN-to-MSN expressly labels each focus as a 200-hour practicum experience; neither capstone is a 200-hour course.

Add the term dates, weekly availability, city, repeatable travel radius, mentor role, setting, activities, and project status. Tell the contact whether the student needs leadership access in a healthcare organization or teaching and project access in an academic or clinical practice setting. This lets an office route the message to a plausible mentor and the person responsible for student access.

Use the current ACE course instructions as the source for credential, document, and review requirements. ACE's public program pages describe hours, course purposes, mentor roles, and settings, but they do not publish a universal nursing placement workflow for every student and site. Do not tell a prospect that a particular form or approval sequence applies unless it appears in the student's current written materials.

Classify every response. Some organizations do not host students, some centralize requests, some cannot support the project, and some have no mentor capacity during the proposed dates. Review mentor fit separately from site fit. ACE describes NUR5094 as work in a healthcare organizational setting with a nurse-leader mentor. NUR5194 uses an academic or clinical practice setting with a nurse educator mentor and includes a scholarly project. A willing nurse may still be the wrong role, and a suitable mentor may work at an organization that cannot provide the needed access.

Check whether the project is understandable. The administrator capstone centers on applying leadership and management concepts and implementing evidence-based strategies in the selected environment. The educator capstone requires a scholarly project relevant to professional nursing education. A concise project direction helps a prospect assess feasibility, while ACE retains the academic decision.

For Nurse Administrator work, screen healthcare organizations for a nurse-leader mentor and access to the leadership environment required by NUR5094. For Nurse Educator work, screen academic nursing programs and clinical practice education settings for a nurse educator mentor, learner or program access, and room for the scholarly project described in NUR5194.

ACE's nursing career guide says its online nursing programs require an in-person practicum. Treat the physical setting as the baseline even though coursework is delivered online. Search by city and practical commute, then widen the radius only when the student can sustain the trip throughout the course and the site is in a state allowed by current written ACE requirements.

Avoid promising a prospect that the placement is approved. The useful service outcome is a candidate mentor, site, and project direction prepared for ACE and organization review. The student should not begin activity until the current course and site processes say the arrangement may proceed.

An online meeting platform, a remote employee, or an educator who teaches online does not by itself convert an ACE practicum into virtual hours. The public career guide describes an in-person practicum. Ask for a written answer tied to the exact course, mentor, physical site, state, proposed activity, supervision, documentation, and dates before relying on any remote component.
