Shape an ACE Nursing Practicum Search Across Colorado

Licensed NPs in Colorado work in AANP's full practice environment; ACE has no nurse practitioner track, so its MSN practice planning serves different roles. The current ACE application asks a nursing applicant around Denver to acknowledge access to a local clinical or practicum setting in which required practice can occur.

Use two travel radii along the Front Range and beyond

Useful Nurse Educator contacts often oversee learners, curricula, competencies, or staff development. Useful Nurse Administrator contacts often oversee systems, quality, people, operations, or service performance. Use one normal commute radius and one less-frequent regional radius instead of calling the entire state local.

Denver and Aurora provide the largest organizational market. Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Loveland, Pueblo, and Grand Junction support separate regional searches. Mountain weather and Western Slope distance need to appear in the calendar.

A workable Denver option needs an organization that permits the proposed role, meetings, schedule, and project resources. A willing individual cannot grant access owned by an education office, employer, health system, or academic program.

Translate the ACE sequence into a Colorado calendar

Keep the Denver schedule course-specific: NUR5043 is an independent 50-hour organizational-systems practice experience.

For NUR5094, a Colorado Springs plan needs the 150-hour Nurse Administrator capstone and an appropriate nurse-leader mentor.

For NUR5194, a Grand Junction plan needs the 150-hour Nurse Educator capstone and an appropriate educator mentor in an academic or clinical practice setting.

At pathway level, 50 plus 150 equals 200 hours. RN-to-MSN expressly markets a 200-hour practicum experience for each focus, whereas BSN-to-MSN displays each course component. Keep the Denver schedule labeled by course so the capstone is never treated as one combined course.

Read full-practice law separately from course fit

The AANP lists Colorado as a full practice state. Licensed NPs in Colorado evaluate patients, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and initiate and manage treatments, including prescriptions, under the licensure authority of the Colorado State Board of Nursing alone. No physician collaboration or supervision agreement is required for an NP to run a practice.

A family NP running her own practice in Pueblo or a psychiatric NP seeing patients solo in Grand Junction can agree to precept you without asking anyone's permission first.

One wrinkle worth knowing: Colorado grants prescriptive authority in stages. A newly licensed APRN starts with provisional prescriptive authority and completes a structured prescribing mentorship before the board grants full authority. Most experienced preceptors hold full authority, but if you are considering an early-career NP, it is a detail worth checking on the board's site.

Near Denver, Do not carry the licensed-NP category into ACE eligibility. The proposed indirect-care work needs its own mentor, site, and project analysis; ACE has no NP or APRN track, and its Nurse Educator and Nurse Administrator practice is indirect care.

The Colorado State Board of Nursing sits inside the Division of Professions and Occupations at the Department of Regulatory Agencies, which everyone shortens to DORA. The board licenses RNs and advanced practice registered nurses, administers prescriptive authority, sets scope and delegation rules, and handles discipline.

Colorado licenses APRNs by role and population focus, built on an active RN license, graduate education, and national certification.

Colorado also participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact.

A public nursing record can answer a licensing question for the Colorado Springs search, but it cannot establish ACE academic fit. The organization still controls onboarding, project data, meeting access, and the mentor's capacity. Keep a dated verification and compare the legal name with the candidate materials.

Account for mountain travel in the physical baseline

Plan on attending a physical site in the Denver market. ACE's public nursing career material says its online programs include an in-person practicum.

Treat any remote portion of a Colorado Springs proposal as conditional until written ACE, course, site, and state permission exists; sourcing cannot promise approval or credit.

Package a Denver or Western Slope candidate

Before enrollment planning, current ACE material has a Denver-area nursing applicant acknowledge access to a local clinical or practicum setting for required hours.

Turn the request into a screening sheet with course code, hours, dates, physical site, mentor duties, project aim, and organization permissions. For Grand Junction, record the site decision path and the person authorized to approve project access.

We can run targeted outreach and screen public candidate details. The service cannot grant organization access, academic approval, or accepted credit. The immediate search area includes Denver and Colorado Springs.

Questions

Good to know

What is a two-radius Colorado search?

One radius covers ordinary weekly travel along the Front Range. A second can test less-frequent regional options if the course and site permit concentrated physical participation.

Does Colorado full practice expand ACE into NP training?

No. The AANP category applies to licensed NPs. ACE Nurse Educator and Nurse Administrator work remains indirect care.

Which course belongs with a Colorado nurse leader?

NUR5094 is the 150-hour Nurse Administrator capstone. NUR5194 belongs with a nurse educator, and NUR5043 remains a separate 50-hour course.

How should mountain weather affect the candidate file?

Include the actual physical location, travel route, seasonal constraints, dates, and backup calendar before treating a Western Slope or mountain lead as workable.
